You want to have a pet but you do not want the typical pets like dogs and cats. What will you choose? Conure Parrots may be your next choice. What are the things you need to understand about them both advantages and disadvantages so that you can get to decide?

Before, you move on. First, you need to have a brief background about them. These birds come in various sizes. There are varieties that are small and others are large. They are natives in the Central and South America. Sometimes, they are called parakeets but they are widely known for the term conure. This term is from a Latin word, which literally means “cone-tailed.”
You do not have to concern yourself with weather, temperature or diet changes since these birds can easily adapt to these changes in contrast to other species.

The size of these birds is on the average of 11.8 inches or 30 centimeters. Measuring about 12 inches, the Jenday Conure can be considered an excellent choice when it comes to choosing what parrot to acquire. However, because these birds are highly active, they need a much larger cage that will enable them to spread their wings. Also, the bar spacing should be distanced appropriately to avoid escaping or getting caught in between.

The average weight of one parrot is 2.2 pounds or equivalent to one kilogram.

If you measure the length of the entire tail, it is usually the same as the length of their bodies.

What will you get if you choose Conure Parrots as Pets?

  • You will get a companion more than half your life because their life expectancy can be more than 35 years.
  • Your pet will be pleasing to the eye because of their colorful plumage and a personality that is equivalent to affectionate and really cuddly. One of the great choices when it comes to this is the Green Cheek Conure.
  • You will get a pet with a diet that is easy to handle and is not really fussy since it only consist of pellets, fruits and vegetables and some seeds or nuts.
  • Your pet is highly trainable and is capable of learning tricks as long as you do their training properly.
  • You will get a pet that can speak human language and a pet that is considered the calmest of all birds.

The things that you only need to put up with are their noise (being moderate to extremely loud like the Green Conure) and their need for attention and social interaction. If you can meet those two major necessity, you will not be having any problem raising these birds.
